Questions to ask when inquiring about pet sitting services:

  1. Are you bonded? *This means that the company carries Dishonesty Bond Insurance to protect against thievery.
  2. Are you insured? *This protects the consumer against possible damage to the premises due to negligence or unforeseen circumstances.
  3. Do you have mandatory background screening for all employees? *This means that the company provides complete background checks including social security number, previous address history, driver's license information and validation, local county and federal criminal history check.
  4. Can you provide references? *Any company providing services for an extended period of time should be able to provide you with valid and reliable references from previous customers that it has serviced.
  5. Are your employees trained in Pet First-Aid? *Any pet sitting company should require its pet sitters to be trained in Pet First-Aid by a reliable organization such as the Red Cross.
  6. Do your employees have medicinal administration experience? *Any pet sitting company administering medication should have prior experience such as veterinary technician skills or education, or from personal training.
  7. How long have you been in business? *Any new company will be inexperienced when it comes to uncertain conditions, while a proven company has the knowledge and experience to handle challenging situations.
  8. Do you love pets? *Any pet sitting company should be able to convey their love for pets and animals without any hesitation.
